Insulin
When it comes to diabetes, people often think of insulin injections as the most effective way to control blood sugar. In 1921,Banting, a Canadian doctor, successfully isolated insulin from a shrunken cow's pancreas. The following year, insulin was used to treat diabetes patients and insulin production began in large Numbers. The discovery earned him the Nobel Prize in medicine in 1923. Later, Sanger, a British biochemist, identified the molecular structure of insulin, making it possible to synthesize insulin, and he won the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1958.
